I'm Letting Go

I’m Letting Go
By: Casanda Lambert

(Verse 1)
Mistakes I’ve made,
Things I’ve done,
All my life is filled with regrets.
Seems like this is all I’ll ever know.
There’s got to be something better than this life.

I hear a voice, a still small voice,
Calling out my name,
Telling me to come to Him,
Lay it down,
At His feet,
And let it all go.

(Chorus)
Now I’m here, on my knees.
I’m laying it all down
Letting it all go.
The burden is being lifted,
I feel Him picking me up,
And standing me on my feet again.

(Verse 2)
Heartbroken, failures
Nothing seems to go the way it should.
The pain is here,
It’s so severe.
It still seems like this is all I’ll ever know.

Then I hear that voice, that still small voice
Calls out my name once again.
He keeps on telling me to come to Him,
And lay it all down at His feet again.

(Chorus2)
Now I’m here, on my knees again.
I’m laying it down,
And letting it go again.
The burdens are lifted, it feels so good.
I know He picked me up,
And put me on my feet once again.

(Bridge)
So whatever you’re facing,
You don’t have to keep holding it
You can let it go
And give it all to Him.

So let it go,
Lay it down,
He’ll lift the burden,
Pick you up,
And put you back on your feet again.

Letting Go, is basically a reflection on my passed and the choices I had made. Things I was holding on to for so long, I finally let it all go and gave it to God.

Are You Still Here? (Revised Version)

Are You Still Here?
By: Casandra Lambert
In Memory of Jacob Nance & Justin Simmons

(Verse 1)
It’s not fair
We don’t understand
Why did you have to take them away?
The pain’s too great, We don’t think we can take it anymore
We’re sorry Lord, but we’re done.
‘Cause we don’t see how You’d do this to us.

(Chorus)
Are You still There?
Can You hear us?
Why is this all happening to us?
Why can’t we see You?
Why can’t we feel You?
Hello Jesus…
Are You still there?

(Verse 2)
Lord it’s hurting
And the tears keep flowing
Why can’t we see You anymore?
Lord, we need You, but we can’t find You.
Lord we can’t do this on our own!

(Chorus)
Are You still There?
Can You hear us?
Why is all happening to us?
Why can’t we see You?
Why can’t we feel You?
Hello Jesus…
Are You still there?

(Bridge)
The light in our life, is slowly turning on
We see your arms reaching out … Reaching out to us

(Last Chorus)
We know You’re here
We know You hear us
We see You have a plan in store for us
We can see You
And We can feel You
Hey Jesus… We know you’re here!

Are You Still here was originally written when a friend of mines little nephew passed away. It was a very hard time. Later the song was revised to fit for the loss of Jacob and Justin.

He's Still Here

He’s Still Here
By: Casandra Lambert

(Verse 1)
Some things in life seem easy, and then others seem so hard
You get so overwhelmed, and don’t know where to turn
You try everything your heart and mind knows to do.
All you see is failure, and your heart fills with fear
You feel you’re all alone, as your eyes fill up with tears

(Chorus)
He’s still here
Right here by your side
Even though you can’t always see Him
He made a promise to never leave
And even when you still can’t see Him
He’s still here.

(Verse 2)
Here you are again
In that same dark place
Your life now all filled with fear
You can hear the people say, just give up and quite
You don’t know what to do
So you plan to just give in
But I want you to know

(Chorus)
He’s still here
Right here by your side
Even though you can’t always see Him
He made a promise to never leave
And even when you still can’t see Him
He’s still here.

(Bridge)
Whatever you’re facing He'll stay by your side
He'll Lift you up, and comfort you
He's always here
Ready to see you through!!

(Last chorus)
For He's always here
Right by your side
Even though you can't always see Him
He promised to never leave,

And even when you can't see Him...
He’s always here

He's Still Here was written during a time when I was facing many different hardships one after another. At times I would wonder if God was really there. Then I just came to a realization, that yes.. even though I can't see Him or Feel Him, He was always by my side.

Masterpiece

Masterpiece
By: Casandra Lambert

(Verse 1)
When I look in the mirror I no longer see You
But just this old messed up life that doesn’t know what to do.
But Lord I want to see Your image in me once again
And I know it’s goin’ to hurt a lot when You start workin’ on me…
I know I’ve failed You, I’ve let You down
I’ve lived my life my own way, and have held on to so much
So take Your tools and start chiselin’ away.

(Chorus)
‘Cause I want to be Your masterpiece
I want You to make me beautiful.
I know it’s goin’ to hurt when You start doin’ Your work
But I want to be Your original masterpiece again.

(Verse 2)
Now I’m hurting, I can’t take the pain
I feel I’m breaking, I know I just can’t do it anymore
But You take my hand, and hold me close.
And You tell me ‘bout the pain You went through just for me.
I know You love me, and want the best
So Lord please make me into Your masterpiece again.

(Chorus)
‘Cause I want to be Your masterpiece
I want You to make me beautiful.
I know it’s goin’ to hurt when You start doin’ Your work
But I want to be Your original masterpiece again.

(Bridge)
Now I feel so beautiful,
Because I know I’m now Your own
And now when I look into to the mirror
I can see You again

(Last chorus)
Because I wanted to be Your masterpiece
I wanted You to make me beautiful
Yes I felt the pain when You started working on me
But I wanted to be Your masterpiece

And I’m so glad I’m Your original masterpiece…. again

Masterpiece was written  based off of a skit that I had seen by The Skit Guys. Called "The Chisel" or "God's Chisel".

We'll Still Love You

We’ll Still Love You
By Casandra Lambert
In Memory of Justin Simmons & Jacob Nance

(Verse 1)
Four boys in a car wreck one Friday afternoon
Two lost their lives and the others are struggling to get by.
We don’t understand why this is happening
Why do they have to face this?
It’s not fair because they love You
but now their lives have faded away.

(Chorus)
But we’ll still love You
And we’ll still trust You
Even though we do not understand
But we know You’ve got our hands
And we will still love You.

(Verse 2)
You know we’re struggling
To keep the fire burning
Circumstances just keep clouding up our minds
And in this stillness we feel we’re all alone
We still cannot see what You have in store for us

(Chorus)
But we’ll still love You
And we’ll still trust You
Even though we do not understand
But we know You’ve got our hands
And we will still love You.

(Bridge)
Even in the midst of the darkness,
When we feel we’re all alone.
We see a shimmer of a light
With Your hands stretched out to us!

(Final Chorus)
And we’ll always love You, and we’ll always trust you
Even though we’ll never understand, and circumstances will arise
We don’t feel alone anymore, for we know You always have our hand in Yours
And Yes we’ll always love You!

Their names were Justin and Jacob, both seniors at HPCA. Lost their lives almost a year ago just being teenagers and having fun. The weren't buckled.

I'll Still Love You

 I’ll Still Love You
By Casandra Lambert

(Verse 1)
Four boys in a car wreck one Sunday afternoon
One lost his life and the other three are struggling to survive.
The drunk driver walked away while two of his friends are now dead.
I don’t understand why this is happening
Why do my brothers have to face this?
It’s not fair because they love You Lord
And now their lives are fading away.

(Chorus)
But I’ll still love you
And I’ll still trust you
Even though I do not understand
But I know you’ve got my hand
And I will still love you.

(Verse 2)
You know I’m struggling
To keep the fire burning
Circumstances just keep cloudin’ up my mind
And in this stillness I feel I’m all alone
I still cannot see what you have in store for me

(Chorus)
But I’ll still love you
And I’ll still trust you
Even though I do not understand
But I know you’ve got my hand
And I will still love you.

(Bridge)
Even in the midst of the darkness,
When I feel I’m all alone.
I see a shimmer of a light
With your hands stretched out to me!

(Final Chorus)
And I’ll always love you, and I’ll always trust you
Even though I’ll never understand, and circumstances will arise
I don’t feel alone anymore, for I know you always have my hand in yours
And Yes I’ll always love you!

I'll still love you was originally based on events that happened in the life of me and a small group of my friend. Later In May of 2010 It was changed in memory of 2 boys I went to church with who lost their lives just a few days before they were to graduate. (That revision will be posted shortly)

The Freedom Within

The Freedom Within
By Casandra Lambert

(Verse 1)
Two men in a prison cell, named Scott and Johnny Lee.
One was put in innocently, the other came from Bob Jones University.
They’re both Christians in a jail house facing the hardest days.
Through the midst of all their troubles they found themselves singing “It Is Well with My Soul”
After singing for a while, some of the men started talking
And soon enough many were saved.

Even Though They Were In Prison…

(Chorus)
The freedom within them cries out
The freedom within them sings praises to God.
Even though they were bounded by chains
The freedom within them cries out
For they are finally free from their sin!

(Verse 2)
Two men in a prison cell, named Paul and Silas
Both were put in innocently for preaching the gospel in the streets.
They were the only Christians in the jail house, and they were facing maybe death.
In the darkest of the night they started singing and praising God.
While they were singing God caused the earth to shake.
The quake was so great that all the chains and doors broke loose.
The jailer thought they all escaped, and was about to take his life
Till Paul spoke up and stopped him, then led the man to Christ.

Even though they were bounded by chains…

(Chorus)
The freedom within them cries out
The freedom within them sings praises to God.
Even though they were bounded by chains
The freedom within them cries out
For they are finally free from their sin!

(Bridge)
You still may be bounded by sins chains,
You too can share our freedom within.

(Last Chorus)
The freedom within us cries out
The freedom within us sings praises to God.
Even though we were bounded by sins chains
The freedom within us cries out
For we are finally free from our sin

Yes God set us free from our sin!

This song was written during a time when my family and I were facing the hardship of my uncle going to prison. The longer he's been in, the more people he's led to Christ. While praying for him and thinking about it all. The story in the Bible of Paul and Silas came to mind. And thus my first song was written.

The Music In Me

Hey Everyone,
So over the past year or so I've written several different song lyrics. Most of them are Christian based and some are different. I'm hoping to get some feedback from them. I hope you all enjoy them.

God is God - Proverbs 14:26 (Part 5)

Proverbs 14:26 (Part 5)
Those who fear the LORD are secure; He will be a place of refuge for their children.

Last time we ended with the biblical principle that we are all sinful and that God’s divine standard was perfection - meaning absolutely NO SIN in your life. We talked about how we rationalize our own actions, somehow making them less sinful in our own minds. We spoke of how our understanding of “good” and “bad” people is twisted by our own view of ourselves - we have in essence set ourselves up as the standard for “good.” We discussed all of these issues to continue developing our understanding of how a truly and perfectly good God, who has absolute control over all things, could allow “bad” things to happen to “good” people.

Scripture is clear on the issue of who is “good” and who is “bad” (ANY sin puts you and I in the bad category) - only Jesus Christ was truly good. If we want to take it a step further we would see that Scripture says we are born into sin. Since God is perfectly just, as we have already seen, then we could rightly conclude that none of us deserve anything “good” happening to us. A perfect and holy God cannot tolerate sin - to do so would be sin on His part, and God is perfect so it is impossible for Him to sin. Sin has consequences and they must be given out. There is a price to be paid, and that price is spiritual death - as we saw last time.

But God in His infinite and perfect mercy has provided the payment for us if we choose to accept it. That payment was the death of His own Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus took our sin upon Him and paid the penalty by dying in our place. All we have to do is accept this priceless gift. But even after we do accept this gift it does not eliminate all the bad things of this world, nor does it protect us from experiencing a bit of this evil. It also does not make us perfect - we will continue to struggle with sin until we attain our reward (Heaven).

When Adam and Eve first sinned, the human race and the world in which we live were cursed. Up until that first sin, the earth was a perfect place. There were no floods, no earthquakes, no tsunamis, no terrorists, and there weren’t even any liars. All things were perfect; mankind and creation alike. Sin brought with it a curse on mankind; all who are born have the curse of sin within them from the moment they are conceived. Sin also brought with it a curse on creation; “natural” disasters, aggressive wild animals, poisonous plants, droughts, and even weeds.

The effects of sin are evident all around us. Sin is what causes the pedophile to prey on children. Sin is what causes a husband or wife to cheat on their spouse. Sin is what causes a person to exaggerate the numbers on their tax return. Sin is what causes men to go to war against another nation. Sin is what causes hurricanes, and tornados, and earthquakes, and tsunamis. Sin is what causes cancer and disease. Sin is what causes the death of loved ones. Sin and only sin is what lies at the root of every “bad” thing that happens in this world. The price of sin is great; too great for any of us to pay.

If God were to step in and not allow these things to happen, He would have to eliminate our free will. We would have to be puppets with God pulling the strings. We would have no choice but to accept and acknowledge Him. We would be mindless robots that God in essence winds up and directs.

I ask the following question: What is the opposite of love? Everyone naturally says, “Hate.” But that is the wrong answer. The opposite of love is selfishness. True and unconditional love means to always do what is best for the other person; denying self. Love means you give 100% regardless if the intended receiver of your love even acknowledges your existence. God gave His all for us. He gave Himself in the form of His Son Jesus Christ, regardless of if we even acknowledge His existence. And it is His love for us that allows us to choose. His love for us that allows us to sin even though the consequences are great. His love for us that gave us a Savior.

When we sin we in essence continue the evil in this world and to some extent are the cause for all the "bad" things we tend to blame God for.

Well, as I said from the beginning, I don’t know if this brief detour study clears up the question of why God allows evil and disaster, or if it further confuses you. The bottom line is that God is God and we are not.
